After releasing the Heart Echoes album in 2020 and three standalone singles in 2021, Natalie Sandtorv's Neon Ion returned earlier this year with the stunning track "Wildfire". Now, as the summer reaches its height she's recruited fellow Norwegian Ola Village for the cool neo-soul of "Stay Love". It's out 5 August on Jazzland Recordings, and the second Neon Ion album Mood Cosmic will follow on 9 September.

On "Stay Love", a perfect end-of-summer anthem to cycle home (or cry) to, Ola Village (Jon Olav Sandal) and Sandtorv trade smooth verses over slo-mo beats before combining on a pleading, soulful chorus filled with harmonies. It's a vocal masterclass from two artists who make singing sound like the easiest thing in the world.

Both Natalie and Jon Olav come from the same tiny place on the west coast of Norway called Sunnmøre (also the home of Sigrid, Highasakite and Amanda Tenfjord!), and yet they make not-so-likely duetting partners. However, Neon Ion's jazz background blends perfectly with Ola Village's mellow indie vibe..and they both share a great love for artists like Frank Ocean and Bon Iver.

"We're exploring a relationship between two people not communicating in the best way," explains Natalie, "and both are stuck in their own mind not able to express what they want."

For a track about problems in talking things over, "Stay Love" finds two artists completely at ease with communicating with the listener.
